As ever, this year’s Red Nose Day fell on a Friday, but Satomi Kai Aikido were still keen to show their support for Comic Relief with a Red Nose event of their own during their Sunday class.
It was an interesting mix of attire, as the traditional Japanese uniforms were accompanied by this year’s bright red ‘dinosaur’ noses.
Many members spent the entire evening practicing wearing the noses, and it was quite a challenge keeping them in place. It’s hard to keep the nose attached while flying through the air from some of the large throws, and an “ooof” was regularly followed by a comedy nose shooting across the room.
It was a fun evening, and more importantly, helped to raise some money and awareness for what we think is a really worthwhile cause.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort, and didn’t mind looking silly for a while.
