Satomi Kai Aikido has opened new midweek classes at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre in Stowmarket.
Satomi Kai have long standing ties with the centre, as the club has run martial arts classes there for almost 30 years.
Both the Sunday and Thursday classes will run in Studio 1 – a large, fully air-conditioned fitness studio, making full use of the room’s ample space, Olympic style mats, and wall-to-wall mirrors. Being established and equipped at the centre also means it’s a simple matter of moving to the main hall to host larger events in the future, such as inter-clubs and seminars.
These new classes will be taught by Sensei Adrian Munteanu (Aikikai) and Sensei James Trueman (Yoshinkan), both of whom hold a great deal of experience from different training backgrounds. Both instructors are fully DBS (formerly CRB) checked and first aid qualified
Training will include a combination empty-hand technique, along with weapons including sword, staff and knife, all practiced in a safe and friendly environment.
It’s hoped that existing centre users and gym members will be encouraged to come and try Aikido, while at the same time encouraging club members to try any of the huge number of other activities running at the centre.
A new class is always a great time to start something new, and with the kids going back to school and the evenings growing longer, there’s never been a better time to see what Aikido is all about. Please come along and give it a try.
Beginners are always welcome, and the first lesson is completely free – you don’t even need to be a member of the Leisure Centre. Just wear something loose and comfortable, be open minded, and ready for a fun evening.
