Stowmarket Aikido Club had an exciting visitor to the class recently, in the shape of the Olympic Torch.

The Olympics is a very exciting time for martial arts. As well as the track and field events, a number of Martial Arts are represented at the games including Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Fencing, Wrestling and Boxing. Many of which have classes available at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre.

It was a great feeling having the torch at the club. For those looking forward to the Games, it was exciting to be so close to the icon that best represents it all. For those who may have previously been indifferent, it brought a real feeling of connection and involvement in the whole thing.

We were very grateful for the opportunity, and looked forward to the Games more than ever.
